This particular subway was used frequently by high-income earners who enjoyed classical music.
However, hardly anybody stopped to listen.
Evidently these commuters had no idea Joshua Bell is a world-class violinist who has sold-out venues such as the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall with tickets that cost several hundred dollars.

Kevin Systrom worked at Google and wished to get out of marketing and more into programming, but this was denied because he had no former programming background. He decided to leave Google, and founded Instagram which was just sold to Facebook for $1 billion.

Otto Frederick Rohwedder invented sliced bread, but failed for 15 years until Wonder Bread took the idea and made it profitable.
Marketing is what creates the ideal context for your offerings to be sold for the highest return or volume.
Marketing is the biggest difference between a world-class violinist begging for dollars, or selling out halls.
